32 athletes for Olympics qualification
The athletes will compete in six categories in the Presidential Initiative on Sports (PIS) on March 3 at the College of Medicine Sports Complex in Blantyre.
Alinafe Mchochoma, Magdalena Kambaula, Lespher Besiano and Mercy Dickie; Bianco Lipato and Sheila Kaferawanthu will compete in the ladies 58 kilogrammes category.
Adriano Nazombe, Sadik Mponda, Simeon Metivala and Allan Mphote and Ayami Bakali from Blantyre will contest in the men’s 56kg category.
In the men’s 62kg category, there is Noel Kagwa, Shaibu Ali, Emmanuel Mbewe, Abdul Mwachumu and Lenis Anania.
Thoko Kankhokwe, Morton Mhango, John Phiri, Peter Kalitsiro and Charles Songola from Blantyre will fight in men’s 69kg category.
Charles Moloko, Galasteni Mkwapula, Frank Ng’ambi and Emmanuel Muhuwa will battle in the men’s 77kg.
In 85 kilogrammes men’s category, there is Emmanuel Awali, Kondwani Mauluka, Gabriel Chapitapansi, Hastings Manjolo and Joseph Nkhukus.
In all the six weightlifting categories, winners will get K20 000 (about $120), runners-up K15 000 ($90) and third winners (about $60) K10 000.
